Advantages of Affiliate Marketing
There are honestly a lot of benefits to affiliate marketing. They all
boil down to issues of convenience or limited risk. I'd be lying if I
said you couldn't just build your own store or form your own product.
Then again, in theory there's nothing truly stopping you from building
the next Wal-mart. The example isn't perfect but it should capture the
heart of the issue. You are limiting your profits for the copious
benefits.
First, Running an online store isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to
be. From a point of pure convenience and commitment, it isn't a lot of
fun. You'll have to actually produce the product. This means a major
time commitment or a serious financial commitment via a hired freelancer
or producer. If you are an affiliate marketer, you just have to find an
established program and advertise it. There isn't any of the initial
buildup involved.
Second, you really don't have much of a commitment on the back end of
the program. If someone buys an e-book, you don't have to ensure it's
delivery. You don't have to manage the web hosting. You don't have to
handle complaints. You don't have to do anything else. Once they leave
your page, you've done all that you can possibly do. The work is out of
your hands.
Third, there isn't much of a financial commitment involved. As I
mentioned before, just setting up a store or program is a major
commitment. You'll either commit a lot of man hours or a lot of money.
This means that you basically have to succeed. Failure means a complete
loss and a useless product. Salvage efforts will also be difficult. Who
wants a completely unsuccessful product or business. There isn't much
cost for affiliate advertising. Many free methods are available, such as
article marketing and free blogging. This means a bad effort is just a
misstep in a larger campaign.
Fourth, you can always walk away easily. Let's look at an affiliate's
commitment. They just sign up for the program with a little bit of
research. Their advertising efforts will probably require one good
website as the center point. If you're just an affiliate, you don't need
something grand. Domain names are about $8 for a .com and $2 for a
.info. There are plenty of free website templates available and free
editor programs. Nvu is a particularly good one for beginners. If
running an actual webpage is too difficult, they can just set up a blog.
It's even possible to get a free blog from Blogger. It may not convert
as well, but it will be workable. All that's left is the actual
marketing which can be done on a low or non-existent budget. Article
marketing makes this quite possible. If the program completely fails,
then you can just cut your losses and move on to the next idea. You may
even be able to sell the site to another affiliate marketer who wants to
take a crack at it.
Fifth, variety. The beauty of affiliate marketing is the opportunity
available. Few people can branch out if they actual own a program.
Affiliate marketers can move on to a new idea once their last project is
established. After the basic marketing is done, there isn't much else to
do. The site can run on autopilot for awhile on minimal maintenance.
This means your fly fishing affiliate site can be earning money to
finance your gourmet chocolate site. I dare you to find another option
that allows such diversity. |
